Wine Selection - February 2021
Wine Selection - January 2021
As Bangkok begins to warm up, our sommeliers have chosen some great wines from France and Italy to ease you out of dry January and into February:
This month we have six wines from France & Italy, including 1 sparkling, 3 red, and 2 white.
Tenuta Luisa Spumante (Sparkling) - Lightly effervescent with a fine and lasting perlage (fizz!). Smooth and elegant with subtle notes of ripe fruit with pineapple and apricot are followed by delicate hints of white flowers. A firm acidity is balanced with good persistence and a dry pleasant finish.
Damilano - Arneis Langhe 88WS - Damilano is one of the oldest wineries in Barolo. Straw yellow in colour, the bouquet is delicate, fresh, fruity. The palate is dry, fresh and elegantly harmonic with moderate acidity. Pairs well with light appetizers, fish courses and white meats.
Arnaldo Caprai - Grecante Colli Martini Grechetto DOC 90RP - A full and fresh wine with a long persistance. Intense perfumes of exotic fruit and yellow peach, floral notes of freesia and hawthorn, pleasing chalkiness on the finish. A great aperitif wine or consumed with seafood, veal or poultry dishes.
Paul Jaboulet - 100% Syrah from vineyards in the Rhône Valley and the Languedoc. Medium-bodied with a fresh, juicy feel, this wine offers the classic Syrah characters of blackcurrant and liquorice, with subtle aromas of wild shrubs and pepper. Perfect accompaniment for herb-rubbed lamb chops, preferably char grilled.
Fattoria le Pupille - Morellino Di Scansano DOCG 92JS, 90RP - Ruby red, already from sight one can notice its clearness. Cherry and currents are the starting notes. The body is balanced by a distinguished acidity. Juicy wine with crispy tannins that are well integrated: a wine linked to its land but with a style that is appreciated worldwide
- Tormaresca by Antinori - Full bodied, dry and rich. Ripe and baked plum and cherry notes are layered to form the bulk of the palate , along with subtle indications of clove spice and fig. Quite long on the finish, well preserved level of acidity.
