Wine Selection - January 2022

January 2022

To welcome in 2022, we've got a selection of light & fruity whites, and some bolder reds. This month, we've chosen our wines from Chile, Spain, and Italy with a couple from Baron Philippe de Rothschild to usher in the year in style!

  • Finca Fella Cala Rey Macabeo - Clean and bright, pale yellow with hints of green. Medium intensity, with clear tropical aromas such as pineapple and mango, notes of green apple with an aniseed aftertaste.

  • Baron Philippe de Rothschild - Mapu Reserva Chardonnay - Glittering yellow with muted green highlights in colour. The intense nose reveals pear, lychee and peach aromas as well as lightly toasted hazelnut notes that come from time spent in used French oak barrels. The powerful attack leads into a substantial, rich and succulent mid-palate, while the long finish reveals good acidity on fruit flavours, especially lychee, and delicate notes of oak.

  • Domäne Wachau Grüner Veltliner Selection - Deeply rooted in the Wachau, a sumptuous Austrian valley crossed by the Danube, this cooperative winery gets its supplies from 440 hectares of vines, or nearly 30% of the entire vineyards of this sub-region. The emblematic grape of Austria, the Grüner Veltliner in this wine offers lemony and mineral notes in a delicate and lively mouth.

  • Batasiolo Langhe Rosso DOC - A wine of intense ruby red color, limpid and transparent. The bouquet has hints of fruitiness marked with pleasant sensations of red berry fruits, herbs and spices. The sensation of the aromatic wood completes this truly enjoyable wine. In the mouth, tannius, a delicate freshness and pleasant wine alcohol content make it round, fruity, pleasantly full and enveloping. Perfect drinks with appetizer, pasta and risotto, white and red meats, and medium-aged cheeses.

  • Tarapaca Gran Reserva - Nose of dark chocolate, smoked oak, smooth tannins, medium alcohol, on palate black fruits, smoke, chocolate, well balanced, medium after taste.

  • Baron Philippe de Rothschild Escudo Rojo Reserva - A deep ruby red with a purple tint. Refined and complex, with intense, forward fruit, the nose reveals wild strawberry, cherry and blackcurrant aromas mingled with subtle, delicate notes of vanilla and almond. Excellent attack, good substance, concentration and balanced acidity, on silky and refined tannins.
